WW1 Centenary Commemoration: Looking Back 100 Years

to be performed exactly one-hundred years after the tragic loss of 1,200 lives in the sinking of the Lusitania.

Exciting new production for 2014
National Theatre playwright: Judith Johnson, has been commissioned to work with Razed Roof
to develop a new, inclusive script for Razed Roof.
The project is to commemorate the life of a dear friend Keith Watson and to highlight his passionate interest
in the environment and climate change.
The development of the project is to be filmed and recorded by Peter Davies of StagePhoto.
Creative Minds Conferences 2014
Razed Roof is working with Carousel and other arts-based organisations to promote inclusion by showcasing the quality work produced by people with learning disabilities.

Taking Arts Beyond School (TABS) 2013/14
Via Essex Community Foundation, Harlow Recreation Trust has generously funded Razed Roof to offer Drama and Arts opportunities to young people with Learning Difficulties, beyond their experiences in school.
We are currently working with students from The Hub, Mark Hall; young people in F.E.; and linking with 4 Special Schools students.
Thanks to Accuro for their support and guidance.
2013: Accuro Summer Project
Razed Roof staff are running the Drama project for Accuro at Harlow Playhouse over the Summer.
After the first session Maria Flynn, one of the Accuro staff commented:
Had an amazing time, thank you. Wonderful to hear a young person say, "Wow, i never thought i could do that!"
2012: 'Creating in the Garden'
A 'Jack Petchey Foundation Grant' funded Razed Roof to plan and run a Creativity Day for
three Special Schools. Three facilitators worked together with RR
members, to help them plan and then deliver three Dance and Drama workshops, for
the school pupils who all had special educational needs and/or disabilities.
Our project became a wonderful partnership event when the staff team from a Harlow company: Lighter Life, together with Science Alive + Harlow Museum Gardens, joined forces to host and deliver 'Creating in the Garden'.
Excited students arrived from: Oakview Special School, Harlowfields Special School and
The Spinney Star Centre, and worked solidly for 5 hours to develop and produce
performance pieces for the end of the day. The grand presentation of the three short
productions was given to an audience of 100 people, including Robert Halfon: MP
for Harlow; Sarah Kelly: CEO of Lighter Life; and Razed Roof patron: Professor
Bob Gates.
2012: Heritage Lottery Project
'InForm: A History of Harlow'
Working with people from the local community, historians, Harlow Museum and several schools,
we researched the history of our town.
We incorporated the stunning collection of civic sculptures into the production of 'InForm':
a performance that told a story of Harlow.
2011: Tri-Safe
This was part of the award winning'Be Safer Project'.
We aimed to promote understanding and inclusion of people with learning difficulties and disabilities within the community.
The EVENT on Thursday 10th November 2011 was
the culmination of the Tri-Safe Project
The Be Safer Groups across Essex surveyed people with a learning disability
to identify the needs and issues of being able to Keep Safe in the community.
The main issues highlighted showed that people with a learning disability were worried or
anxious about school students and groups of young people
The Tri-Safe project
was developed to meet this need and comprised of three initiatives:
Razed Roof – in Harlow.
Razed Roof ran drama workshops, with a range of
schools ( Primary, Special and Secondary) plus Harlow Youth Council,
to raise awareness of the difficulties people with a learning disability may face
on a daily basis. The students returned to cascade the
information within their school; they developed their ideas to portray
what they learnt from their workshop: this could take the form of
drama, poetry, prose, the creation of art or media work.
These works were performed and displayed at the Playhouse for The Event: November 2011.
Basildon - Hate Crime: These workshops highlighted what hate crime is and
what to do should you experience or witness it. Issues highlighted within
these workshops informed the Razed Roof sessions.
Everyday Lives: A photographic project of images taken by people with and without a learning disability.
The exhibition was display at the Playhouse Theatre as part of The Event.
The Razed Roof project and Event was organised in conjunction with: Castle Point Association of Voluntary Services.
The Be Safer Project was awarded two iESE Awards in March 2012:
'Working Together' and 'Transformation in Social Care' in the
Annual Improvement and Efficiency Awards
2011:'Brave New Food'
Harlow Health Centres Trust has funded Razed Roof to promote Healthy Lifestyles.
We have commissioned the playwright, Judith Johnson (who has written for the National Theatre and the Royal Court), to work with us to write a script especially for Razed Roof. The play is called 'Brave New Food' and tells a fun story with an important message.
Ongoing partnership with Sheredes School, Hoddesdon
Razed Roof works in a fantastic and ongoing partnership with the Performing Arts Department from Sheredes School.
Head of Drama Linda Rowan has successfully linked the inclusive performance work to the Performing Arts curriculum and extra-curricular activities of the school.
Skilfully supported by their teacher, Bethany Mason, an amazing group of young people chose to become members of Razed Roof.
They work with the company every week, and give their time in the evenings and weekends, to demonstrate and promote the inclusive work of the company.
2010-2012: Razed Roof Uttlesford Session Hub (RRUSH) working with Accuro
Accuro funded Razed Roof to offer evening sessions in the Uttlesford District.
This group was lead by Emma Logan/Mandy Jacobs/Annette Lidster and met on Monday evenings at the Dourdan Pavilion in Dunmow.
It was a very popular group where people living in more rural areas were
been able to develop their passion for theatre and performance.
2010: Billy Youth Theatre
Razed Roof was proud to be part of the Billy Youth Theatre project linked to Billy Elliot the Musical

to perform at the regional showcase at the Brighton Dome, Pavilion Theatre in 2010
